What it says
- Why does the sky turn red for you at sunset?
- Because blue light bounces off the air, and red walks straight through.
- At noon the sun's light takes a short road, and the bounced blue fills the sky.
- At sunset the road is long. The blue is scattered away before it reaches you.
- What's left at the end of the long road is red.
- Sunrise or sunset?
02). A coast road to a lighthouse. Sunlight is a stream of coloured balls rolling through the air: blue ones bounce off the air (scatter), red ones roll straight. At noon the road from the sun is short and the sky fills with bounced blue. At sunset the road is long; the blue is scattered away before it reaches you, and what arrives is red.
