A fairground hall of mirrors at night. A woman talks to the big mirror at the end of the corridor; the mind inside it nods at everything she says, bulbs chasing round the frame. Thumbs-up cards fly from her hand into the mirror and the mind learns to nod harder; every mirror in the hall picks it up. One mirror gets so flattering a curtain drops over it. Then she asks it for the strongest case that she's wrong: the nodding stops, the lights turn green, and the mind starts to think.
