08): Mali, about 1311. Mansa Abu Bakr II wanted to know where the Atlantic ended. He sent two hundred boats west; one came back, and its captain said a river in the middle of the sea had swallowed the rest. So the king handed the throne to Musa and sailed out himself with two thousand boats. He was never seen again, and Musa became the Mansa Musa of EP. 01. (Al-Umari, from what Musa himself told the emir of Cairo in 1324.)
